5 New Electric Cars Launching in India in 2025: Tata to MG

Share

Over the next few months, India is set to witness a major shift in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Big names like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, MG, and Kia are ready to introduce a lineup of highly anticipated electric cars. From sleek city-friendly models to powerful electric SUVs, these upcoming vehicles promise more range, features, and affordability. Many of them were showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo and are now gearing up for their official showroom debuts.

Maruti e-Vitara: The Brand’s First Electric SUV Arrives in September

Maruti Suzuki will make its electric SUV debut with the launch of the e-Vitara in September 2025. Produced at the company’s Gujarat facility, the e-Vitara will also be exported to international markets.

Buyers can choose between two battery options—49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger battery promises a driving range of over 500 km. Key features include 18-inch alloy wheels, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 7 airbags, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat. With these specs, the e-Vitara aims to combine daily practicality with long-distance comfort.

Tata Sierra EV: An Icon Reborn with All-Electric Power

The legendary Tata Sierra is making a stylish comeback—this time as a fully electric SUV. Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in October 2025, and it will be available in both 4-seater and 5-seater versions.

The Sierra EV runs on Tata’s new Gen 2 Acti.ev platform, the same architecture used in the upcoming Harrier EV. It will come with either a 65 kWh or 75 kWh battery pack, offering a range of over 500 km. With a mix of nostalgia and new-age tech, the Sierra EV is set to attract both old fans and new-age buyers.

MG Cyberster: Convertible Thrill Meets EV Innovation

For those craving excitement and performance, MG is launching the Cyberster, a sporty two-door electric convertible. It’s scheduled to hit the Indian market in August 2025 via MG Select showrooms.

Equipped with a powerful 77 kWh battery, the Cyberster produces 505 bhp and a jaw-dropping 725 Nm torque. The car can sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. It marks MG’s bold entry into India’s premium EV space, targeting thrill-seekers who want speed without emissions.

Kia Clavis EV: India’s First All-Electric 7-Seater

The Kia Clavis EV, based on the existing Carens ICE model, is set to become India’s first seven-seater electric car. It will be launched with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options, offering a range of up to 473 km on a full charge.

This family-friendly EV will appeal to buyers looking for spacious interiors, smart tech, and solid range without compromising on comfort. With features inspired by Hyundai’s Creta EV, the Clavis is expected to play a key role in popularizing larger electric cars for Indian families.

MG M9: Presidential-Level Comfort in an Electric MPV

Topping the luxury charts is the upcoming MG M9, a fully electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) dubbed as the “Presidential Limousine.” This EV is built for premium comfort with 16-way massage seats, dual panoramic sunroofs, ambient lighting, and a high-end audio system.

Designed to redefine electric cars for the executive class, the M9 will be sold through MG Select outlets alongside the Cyberster. Bookings are already open, targeting business travelers and luxury fleet operators.

EVs Are Getting Smarter, Stronger, and Ready for India

These five electric vehicles are not just new launches—they’re a sign that India’s EV revolution is moving faster than ever. Ranges over 500 km, advanced safety features, and a mix of segments—from city hatchbacks to premium performance cars—are now becoming the new standard.

Whether you’re an eco-conscious commuter or someone seeking tech-loaded comfort, there’s likely an EV on this list that suits your lifestyle.

A Great Time to Go Electric

As India pushes toward greener mobility, upcoming EVs from Tata, Maruti, MG, and Kia offer more than just environmental benefits. They’re becoming smarter, safer, and more accessible. If you’re planning to buy a new car in late 2025, this might be the perfect time to consider going electric. Keep an eye on launch dates, compare features, and be ready to test drive the future.
