Apple’s Foldable iPhone May Launch in 2026 at ₹1.75 Lakh

Share

Apple is finally stepping into the foldable phone market. According to top analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company plans to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026. Production could kick off in late 2025, with Foxconn handling the assembly. However, a few key parts like the hinge are still in development.

Book-Style Design, Not a Clamshell

Unlike flip phones, Apple’s foldable will likely feature a book-style fold, much like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.
Expect a 7.8-inch crease-free inner display and a 5.5-inch external screen for quick access. Samsung Display will provide the flexible panels, with limited production planned for 2026.

Sleek Build With Premium Materials

Apple could use a titanium alloy frame for extra strength without added bulk. The phone might be under 5mm thin when open and around 9mm folded.
Due to space constraints, Touch ID may return—this time as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, replacing Face ID.

High Price, Limited Rollout at First

Early reports suggest Apple will ship 3 to 5 million units in 2026. Over the next few years, the company aims for 15–20 million total units.
Prices are expected to start between ₹1.75 and ₹2.16 lakh ($2,000–$2,500), targeting premium buyers and tech enthusiasts.

Can Foldables Revive iPhone Sales?

Apple hopes this bold move will help boost iPhone sales, especially in slowing markets like Europe and China.
If the foldable iPhone gains traction, it could launch a whole new product category for the brand.
